RECRUITMENT NIGHT!!!

The Susquehanna Valley Derby Vixens will be holding an open recruitment night Thursday, November 3, at 7 p.m. at the YMCA Pickelner Arena in Williamsport. Skaters of all skill levels are welcome. Can’t skate? We will teach you!

The league will offer and informational and question-and-answer session at 7 for those interested in becoming rollergirls, referees, non-skating officials (responsible for score keeping, jam timing and other official duties during bouts) and volunteers. The Q & A will be followed by an open skate for those who would like to try out some basic skills with our Fresh Meat coaches. The YMCA charges $4 per skater to use the rink- attending only the informational session is FREE.

Skaters will need the following gear in order to participate:

• Helmet
• Knee and elbow pads
• Wrist guards
• Mouth guard

Limited “tryout” gear will be available on a first-come, first-served basis (no mouth guards included).

SVDV @ 9/11 Memorial Coalition ride

The Suquehanna Valley Derby Vixens were on the scene to recruit skaters, refs and fans Sunday at the annual 9/11 Memorial Coalition bike ride in Muncy!

It was a great opportunity to share derby love with our community! When bikers weren’t gobbling up our delicious homemade cupcakes and other treats, they were asking us questions about roller derby and we we happy to oblige.

Chalk art with the Vixens

SVDV recently took to the sidewalks to get community support for local roller derby! We hosted a chalk art station at First Friday in Williamsport. We had some great local artists practicing their craft, as you can see below. :)

We also got a chance to let people know about our upcoming bout Sept. 24 against the Black Rose Rollers.

Vixens walking for the animals!

The Susquehanna Valley Derby Vixens will spread their love for animals Sept. 17th by participating in the Lycoming County SPCA’s PAWS for a Cause walk!

The Vixens will be divided into two teams: SVDV Dog Lovers will be led by J.K. Brawling and SVDV Cat Lovers will be headed up by Feral Kat.

Funds raised through this event will help ensure that the animals at the SPCA will receive quality food, warm beds and necessary vaccinations and medications. SPCA programs include animal rescue and shelter, pet adoption and counseling, abuse/neglect investigations, humane education and much more. The Lycoming County SPCA is an open-admission shelter and a nonprofit 501 (c) (3) organization.

Donations can be made two ways:

1. Contact your favorite Vixen and make a pledge or donate money through cash or check.

2. Visit the SPCA website (http://www.lycomingspca.org/content/special-events) and click “Make a Donation” to donate through PayPal. If you’d like to sponsor an SVDV team with your donation, please make sure to write “PFAC (Paws for a Cause)” followed by the team you want to support (either SVDV Dog Lovers or SVDV Cat Lovers) in the “notes” box.
